Looking for planet friendly crisps that taste amazing? Here’s how Spudos is doing it.

Spudos was born from sustainability. When it comes to snacking, we want two things: flavour and crunch. But what if you could get all that deliciousness without the guilt of plastic waste? At Spudos, we’re flipping the script on crisps: making sustainability as tasty as our crisps are. (spoiler alert: they’re pretty tasty!)

From sustainable farming, to our zero-waste packaging, and even our zero-emissions cargo bike we’re making sure that every crunch is as green as it is golden.

Zero Waste Farming

We begin our journey on a solar-powered farm in Essex that’s as green as the crisps are golden. Our spuds are grown here using simply sustainable farming. From solar-powered cold stores, to biodiesel tractors, to a rainwater reservoir and home-grown fertiliser made from maize, it’s a farm that’s as dedicated to the planet as we are.

Locally Cooked, Freshly Packed

But the magic of our Spudos by no means stops at the farm. It continues right here in North London, where every crisp is hand-cooked and packed fresh into our home compostable crisp bags. Ready to be shipped to your door!

Similarly, our tasty Spud Dusts are delivered to us in recyclable bags, and packaged in the heart of London. Ready to be sent out for all your dusting needs!

No Crisp Left Behind

Now, the real priority: We sell every crisp we cook, and we’re constantly cooking, so they’re always fresh! Because they’re unseasoned, we never have to throw away stock (like other crisp companies with pre-packaged flavours that don’t sell). No warehouses full of undesired crisps, no stale stock, and definitely no waste.

Zero Waste Packaging

But that's not all that's green! What good are our planet-friendly processes if the packaging’s headed straight to landfill? That’s why Spudos has made zero waste a packaging priority.

No single-use plastic: Unlike typical plastic crisp bags that never break down, we’re all about compostable and recyclable solutions. That's why we’re completely single-use plastic free.

Home compostable packaging: Our crisp bags are made from a strong, greaseproof bio-laminate which is 100% home compostable. Plus, they have an airtight zip lock (which is also compostable) to keep your crisps fresh for up to 16 weeks! (but they’re usually eaten way before). Sustainable, resilient, and brilliant!

Alongside our 100% home compostable Spud Dust sachets and greaseproof shake bags, all our disposable packaging disappears in a few months! (instead of 100 years). Easy for you, easier on the planet.

Recycled and recyclable shakers: Made from 30% recycled plastic, our shakers are fully recyclable when you’re done dusting.

Labels made from certified ocean-bound plastic: Every Spudos label is made from plastic that was once bound for the ocean. Now, it's used to tell you what's in our tasty Spud Dust flavours.

Because a snack that’s good for your taste buds should be good for the planet too.

Zero-Emissions Delivery, Zero Carbon Crunch

And it doesn’t stop with how we grow and pack our spuds! We’re taking sustainability all the way to your doorstep with our zero-emissions cargo bike. That means your Spudos arrive in style, (and with zero carbon footprint!) right to your London home or office. Because the best crisps deserve the best delivery: crunchy, fresh, and kind to the planet.

But Wait… Can’t You Just Recycle Crisp Bags?

You might be thinking: “Aren’t there supermarket collection points for crisp bags?” You’re right! But unfortunately, here’s the crunchy truth: most of that’s greenwashing. Those supermarket schemes often end up down-cycling the plastic or shipping it abroad; not truly giving it the recycling revamp our planet needs!

That’s why Spudos skips the confusion and goes straight for home-compostable packaging. No greenwashing, no hassle, just compostable materials that actually disappear.

What’s Next: Our Future Sustainability Goals

At Spudos, we’re proud of how far we’ve come, but we’re not stopping here! We’re always dreaming up new ways to make snacking better for you and the planet. Here’s what’s on the horizon:

  • We’re working on compostable refill bags for our Spud Dust shakers so that you can truly get the most out of every shaker before recycling.
  • We're also exploring how to make our crisp bags even better: more resilient, more brilliant, and definitely more sustainable (if that’s even possible!).
  • And for our sachets, we're currently testing a new material that disolves in hot water when you're done.

Got ideas for how we can level up even more or new materials we should investigate? We’re all ears! Drop us a message or tag us @spudos_crisps.

Remember, it's better to do something, no matter how small, than do nothing at all!
